AN ITALIAN CHINOISERIE 'LACCA' BUREAU CABINET

Fourth quarter 18th century
The inset panel doors enclose adjustable shelves above the fall front concealing an interior fitted with drawers, hidden column drawers and pigeon holes, the sliding writing surface set in dummy drawer above two graduated drawers on bracket feet, decorated in the manner of Giles Grendy (1693-1780), acquired through David Jones Gallery, Sydney, in 1966, 91cm wide, 51cm deep, 213.5cm high (35 1/2in wide, 20in deep, 84in high).
