The large insect resting on a log, carved in high relief, the veins of its wings carved in fine detail, two fallen leaves at its back, the variegated colouring of the material used to maximum effect, signed Iwami-no-kuni Kanman to (carved by Kanman in Iwami Province) with a kao. 7.6cm (3in).
