A small boar-tusk netsuke with a spider
By Seiyodo Tomiharu (1733-1810), Iwami Province, dated 1786
Carved in high relief with a crawling spider, its legs undercut, signed Iji Tenmei rokuryushu juyuhachinichi Sekiyo Enokawa Seiyodo Shi Tomiharu Kyonen gojusansai shite kore o chokoku mono nari (carved by Seiyodo Shi[mizu] Tomiharu by the Eno River in Sekiyo, at the age of fifty-three, on the eighteenth day of the fifth month of the sixth, hinoe-uma, year of Tenmei [1786]) with a seal Tomiharu and a pot seal. 8.8cm (3¼in).
