A boar-tusk netsuke of a spider on a taro leaf
By Seiyodo Bunshojo (1764-1838), Iwami Province, dated 1830
A spider sitting on a folded taro leaf, its legs undercut, the veins of the leaf finely carved, signed Iji Bunsei jusan kanoe-tora shunshin Iwami-shu (Iwami-no-kuni) Enokawa Seiyodo Bunshojo chokoku (carved by the Eno River by Seiyodo Bunshojo in spring of the thirteenth, kanoe-tora, year of Bunsei [1830]). 10.5cm (4 1/8in) long.
