A boar-tusk netsuke with a centipede
By Seiyodo Tomiharu (1733-1810), Iwami Province, dated 1789
The shallow curved tusk carved in relief with a large centipede running almost the entire length of the tusk, signed Seki-shu Enokawa Seiyodo Shi Tomiharu kyonen gojunanasai shite kore o chokoku toki ni Kansei gan tsuchinoto-tori jugatsu nijukunichi nari (carved at the age of fifty-seven by the Eno River in Iwami Province by Seiyodo Shi[mizu] Tomiharu in the first, tsuchinoto-tori, year of Kansei [1789]) with two seals. 9.8cm (3 7/8in).
