A boar-tusk netsuke with a minogame and ferns
By Seiyodo Bunshojo (1764-1838), Iwami Province, dated 1826
The small tusk carved in low relief with a minogame, its long tail trailing at the back above ferns which are delicately engraved in kebori, signed Iwami-shu (Iwami-no-kuni) Enokawa Seiyodo Bunshojo rokujusansai chokoku (Seiyodo Bunshojo carved this at the age of sixty-three by the Eno River in Iwami Province). 10cm (3 7/8in).
