By Sasaki Tomiaki (born 1746), late 18th/early 19th century
The snail gliding over the stalk and cap of a fungus, fully extended from its shell, its body embellished all over with ukibori pimples, signed in ukibori characters Kaishundo Tomiaki kore o horu (carved by Kaishundo Tomiaki). 6.8cm (2 5/8in).
