A boxwood netsuke of a snail on a taro leaf
By Seiyodo Tomiharu (1733-1810), Iwami Province, late 18th/early 19th century
The large snail of pale colour, slithering over the folded leaf, delicately carved with ukibori details, signed with ukibori characters Iwami-shu (Iwami-no-kuni) Enokawa Seiyodo Shi Tomiharu (Seiyodo Shi[mizu] Tomiharu by the Eno River in Iwami Province). 8.2cm (3¼in).
