An ebony netsuke of a frog on a lotus leaf
By Seiyodo Tomiharu (1733-1810), Iwami Province, late 18th/early 19th century
The frog squatting diagonally on the large folded leaf, its veins carved in delicate and elaborate ukibori, signed with ukibori characters Iwami-shu (Iwami-no-kuni) Enokawa Seiyodo Tomiharu chokoku (carved by Seiyodo Tomiharu by the Eno River in Iwami Province). 7.5cm (3in).
