A rare kurogaki (black persimmon) wood netsuke of Jurojin in a peach
By Baiseki, Iwami Province, late 18th/early 19th century
Carved in two parts, the large peach with leaves carved in relief, surmounted by a loose blossom on which Jurojin stands and fits inside the fruit, forming the himotoshi, signed Baiseki kore o chokoku (Baiseki carved this) with a seal Sha. 5.3cm (2 1/8in).
