By Baiseki, Iwami Province, late 18th/early 19th century
The tiger climbing out of a thick section of bamboo, howling with pain as its tail is caught in a split in the wood, signed Gokyotei Baiseki kore o chokoku (Gokyotei Baiseki carved this) with a seal Sha. 5.7cm high (2¼in).
