By Kanman (1793-1859), Iwami Province, early 19th century
Crouching, its head turned to the left and lowered to the ground, its stylised hairwork meticulously rendered and its eyes inlaid in pale and dark horn, signed Seki-shu no ju Kanman to (carved by Kanman of Iwami Province) with a kao. 4.2cm (1 5/8in).
