A Meissen moulded cup and saucer, circa 1735

Of barbed quatrefoil form, painted in Kakiemon style with a Phoenix in flight and flowering branches, the rims with a border of purple dots on a puce ground between iron-red flowerheads and edged with iron-red scrolls, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue (tiny chip to cup rim, haircrack to rim on saucer) (2)
