An early Meissen teapot and cover, circa 1715

The squat globular body applied with a straight spout and an individually-formed twisted stalk handle from which rose branches grow around both sides of the teapot, the leafy stems applied with flowers and rosebuds in high relief, the cover with three further rose branches growing from a raised stalk that forms the finial, 10cm high, (the spout with a silver mount revealing a chip to the tip, fine crack in the bottom of the handle) (2)

A very similar teapot is in the Hans Syz Collection in the Smithsonian Institution (H. Syz et al., Catalogue of the Hans Syz Collection (1979), p. 47, no. 21). Another teapot with a globular body and conventional loop handle is in the Arnhold Collection, New York (M. Cassidy-Geiger, The Arnhold Collection of Meissen Porcelain 1710-50 (2008), p.339, no.109).
