Footnotes

A similar jug with its cover in the Dresden porcelain collection is illustrated by Ernst Zimmermann, Die Erfindung und Frühzeit des Meissner Porzellans (1908), p. 215, ill. 82. A jug of similar form decorated with unfired colours (p. 223, ill. 88), suggests that the present lot belongs to among the earliest forms of porcelain produced at Meissen.
