BRANSON, RICHARD. B.1950.

[Virgin Galactic Brand Identity Book]. London: GBH, 2007.
Large folio (845 x 597 mm). Color photographic pictorial boards with text. Signed on first page ("Richard Branson"). Some wear to exterior surfaces, handling.

In 2004, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson launched an ambitious plan to create a commercial passenger suborbital space flight company, working together with aerospace engineer Burt Rutan. In 2005, as the new company was launched, Branson hired British advertising and publicity agency Gregory Bonner Hale (GBH) to produce a brand identity for Virgin Galactic. GBH worked with iconoclastic French industrial designer Philippe Starck in putting the image and vision of the company on paper. Branson had stated early on that Virgin Galactic would be operational by the end of 2009, but to date the numerous technical challenges of the enterprise have prevented their spacecraft, SpaceShipTwo, from carrying tourists into orbit.
