The London to Weilburg Balloon voyage.

[After Hollins, J.] A Consultation previous to an Aerial Voyage from London to Weilburg in Nassau, on the 7th day of November 1836. [London: c.1837.] Steel-engraved portrait of the 6 balloonists who planned the flight from London to Weilburg, Nassau, Germany, 280 x 330mm. Slight discoloration, the print mounted and framed. Together with two other ballooning prints, the first by Doyle, a satirical lithographic print of ten gentlemen in the basket of a balloon titled Descent of the great balloon, dated October 22, 1836, and the other a hand colored view of the Nassau balloon.

The six balloonists pictured include Hollins who painted the original oil painting from which this print is taken, and the most famous British balloonist Charles Green. They took off from Vauxhall Gardens, London and set a record of 480 miles when they landed in Weilburg in Nassau. Some issues of this print do not have the table of names below the title.
