Mrs. Fiske (as she was billed) was one of the great leading ladies of the American stage of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She was instrumental in introducing Henrik Ibsen's plays to the American public. She starred in two successful silent films, but believed that the legitimate stage was her true medium. Ernest Haskell was a celebrated American painter, printmaker, and illustrator who designed many of Mrs. Fiske's posters. Mary Anderson was a popular American actress who performed both at home and abroad before retiring at the early age of 30.
