ADAMS, MAUDE. 1872-1953.

Four framed items from the career of the great American actress, comprising original photograph postcard with calling card; two vintage publicity photographs with playbill for The Little Minister (1898); hand-tinted photograph signed in pencil by both the actress and the photographer; and color photolithograph of the Peter Pan painting by Sigismund de Ivanowski. Various sizes and condition.
WITH: Binder of two vintage photographs, Maude Adams Acting Edition of Romeo and Juliet (1899), and miscellaneous clippings and playbills. Various sizes and condition.

Born Maude Ewing Adams Kiskadden, Maude Adams is best remembered for creating the role of Sir J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan on Broadway. She became famous as the great interpreter of other Barrie plays including The Little Minister, Quality Street, What Every Woman Knows and A Kiss for Cinderella almost all produced by Charles Frohman. Except for a performance of The Little Minister on NBC radio in 1934, she restricted her career solely to the stage and never appeared on screen or television.
