6 volumes of 148 American playbills, flyers and clippings from 1805 to 1940, plus framed broadside of The Country Girl, Park Theatre, N. Y., December 24, 1805; and framed signed photograph of Oscar-winning actor George Arliss inscribed to actress Peggy Wood, May 1928. Various sizes and condition.

This lively overview of the American stage with emphasis on the late 1900s and first half of the 20th century includes playbills for such legendary shows as East Lynne, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Cyrano de Bergerac, The Wizard of Oz, The Little Princess, The Squaw Man, Shuffle Along, What Price Glory, The Green Pastures, William Gillette in Sherlock Holmes and James O'Neill in The Count of Monte Cristo. Such great stage stars as Viola Allen, Sarah Bernhardt, George M. Cohan, William Collier, Eddie Foy, Anna Held, Helen Hays, Richard Mansfield, Helena Modjeska, Otis Skinner, Eva Tanguay, Ellen Terry and David Warfield can also be found here in both hits and bombs.
