Carved and painted portrait bust on stand, of Toussaint L'Ouverture, black and gold painted wood with felt hat with gold trim and black feathers and gilt black tassel around base, circa 1900-1920, 660 x 145 mm, signed in gold on lower back of bust, "Dabouze et Jk Felix Sculpteurs Jérémie Haiti."

Toussaint Louverture (1743-1803), hero of the Haitian Revolution, is wittily portrayed in this unusual example of Haitian folk art.
