ALIX, GABRIEL. 1930-1998.

Original acrylic, floral painting, acrylic on masonite, 390 x 495 mm, signed lower left "G. Alix," framed.

"I went on a trip to Haiti around 1950," Mr. Knight recalls, "partly for the pleasure of seeing for the first time after hearing stories from family friends Charles B. Falls, who went regularly there to paint. Like Gauguin's Tahiti, he was obsessed by its exotic charm."
