A David O. Selznick trio of contracts pertaining to his career at MGM
Mimeographed Document Signed ("David O. Selznick"), 1 p, dated June 27, 1935, on onion skin paper, declaring his resignation as a vice-president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Corporation effective immediately; together with a mimeographed document signed ("E. Mannix"), 1 p, dated June 27, 1935, in which Louis B. Mayer's right-hand man and legendary studio manager, Eddie Mannix, has acknowledged receipt of Selznick's resignation. By resigning, Selznick would begin his career as an independent producer and would move just down the block from MGM on Washington Boulevard to form Selznick International Pictures; however, before he could commence that new chapter in his life, he would need to finish his tasks at MGM, which brings us to the third document: a Typed Document Signed ("David O. Selznick," "E. Mannix"), 1 p, dated July 9, 1935, on MGM letterhead, in which Selznick agrees to stay on at MGM in order to complete his producing duties for Anna Karenina and A Tale Of Two Cities (both 1935).
