The present work was reproduced on the cover of Ace-High Magazine's November 1929 issue, a publication which featured Western adventure and sports stories. The work was commissioned to illustrate, as the magazine called it, "a very fast-moving, book-length novel of the Roaring West," entitled Tornado Tex from Tabernash by the author Forbes Parkhill.
