Literature
S.H. McGarry, Honoring The Western Tradition: The L.D. "Brink" Brinkman Collection, Kerrville, Texas, 2003, pp. 280, 297, illustrated.

The artist once wrote to L.D. Brinkman while discussing his silver pieces, which included the present work and other models, such as Dall Sheep and Rocky Mountain Goat:

"The silver pieces came about as a result of having my own foundry and experimenting with the casting of different metals. I wanted to sculpt all of the white animals and birds in uniqueness of the previous metal combined with the base of semi-precious stone. I thought it would be an exciting series."1
