According to Coleman Art, of Corpus Christi, Texas, "Madera Canyon is a remote, unspoiled area in the Davis Mountains out of reach of the modern vehicle. This bronze was inspired by Coleman's annual pack trip into this magnificently rugged canyon, where a climb to the peak of Bear Mountain may be rewarded by the opportunity to actually look downward at a soaring eagle, a mountain lion or black tailed deer."1
