The following background for the present work was recorded in Coleman Art's publication, Limited Edition Bronze Sculptures by Dr. Sherman T. Coleman, from 1984: "A mare grazing contentedly with her playful newborn foal at her side. This was Dr. Coleman's first bronze. Inspired by his joy with the beautiful newborn filly he discovered a newborn talent - his ability to communicate joy and beauty through art. Serving as models for this were his mare Direct Flight and her filly Nun Other who won the 1974 International Futurity."1
