The present work is a bronze reduction for a life size example of The Legend of the Sand Dollar produced by Samuel Coleman and installed at the Corpus Christi Museum, Texas. According to Coleman Art, this sculpture illustrates a religious legend, which centers on two children, pictured here on the beach. The boy has broken a shell and released five doves who represent good will and peace.1 The present work is number one from an edition of 50 bronze reductions of The Legend of the Sand Dollar.
