Footnotes
Attributed to the bronzier Claude Galle (1759-1815), this model is the counterpart to another, known as "Le Réconciliation," in which the couple is embracing. Together this unique pair of clocks depicts two sides of a romantic relationship.
An example of "La Brouille" is in the collection of the Musée Marmatton, Paris. "Le Réconciliation" is illustrated in Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen,, vol. 1, fig. 5.13.11.
Bailly fils, Horloger de Napoleon, fl. c. 1780 - 1820.
