A finely modeled French bronze and black marble allegorical industrial clock portraying progress
Date: Last quarter 19th century
Movement: Circular plates with platform lever escapement, striking the hour and half hour on a bell by means of a count wheel
Dial: Cast in the form of a wheel with roman chapters on the rim, polished Breguet hands
Case: Depicting the goddess Minerva riding a speeding locomotive named Progrès on rectangular marble base raised on bronze feet cast with trophies of industry and centering a relief inscribed "Sciences / Industrie / Arts"
Size: 23 in (58.5cm) high, 23 ½ in (60cm) wide
