An unusual mahogany quarter striking domestic regulator with gridiron pendulum

Signed John Shelton, London, incorporating 18th century elements
Movement: Three train with substantial plates joined by six knopped pillars, dead beat escapement with maintaining power, nine rod steel and brass gridiron pendulum spring suspended from back cock, striking the quarters on two nested bells, the hour on a third bell mounted above the plates, three brass clad weights
Dial: 12-inch dial with strike / silent ring in the arch, silvered roman chapter ring enclosing seconds ring and signature in the polished and brushed center, blued hands, gilt scroll and foliage spandrels
Case: Hood with swan's neck pediment and sound frets above the arched door flanked by fluted chamfers, arched long door, paneled plinth on molded base
Size: 89 in (226cm) high
