An unusual gilt and patinated bronze small four tune musical table clock
Signed Peter La Coste, Hatton Garden, London,
Date: last quarter 18th century
Movement: triple chain fusee with five knopped pillars, verge escapement, knife edge suspended pendulum, striking the hour on a bell mounted on the signed and scroll engraved back plate, playing on the hour one of four tunes on eight bells with 16 hammers
Dial: 4 ½ inch silvered dial with tune selection in the arch, minute ring enclosing roman chapters, pierced gilt scroll hands
Case: Patinated, of square section surmounted by a gilt pierced cylindrical dome supporting a patinated bearded male figure, gilt urn finials above ram's masks and draped leaves to the corners, the glazed side panels within arched gilt frames, raised on gilt scroll feet
Size: 18 ½ in (48 cm) high
