Footnotes
The image on the watch case is after the portrait of the Calmady sisters, Emily and Laura Anne, painted in 1823 by Sir Thomas Lawrence. It was reproduced numerous times during the 19th century, notably a mezzotint of 1835 by Samuel Cousins entitled "Nature." The painting is now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
