Footnotes
The watch is signed for Abraham Vacheron-Girod (1760 – 1843) one of the founders of the firm.
In its day, a state of the art watch with standardized bridge pattern movement made possible by the machinery designed by Georges-August Leschot who joined Vacheron & Constantin in 1839. His innovative system of interchangeable parts enabled the firm to produce high quality watches at a lower cost. Similar techniques were soon adopted by Swiss watchmakers in general.
