A rare gilt giant carriage clock with calendar and moon phase
Signed Thwaites and Reed, London
Date: Mid 19th century
Movement: Twin fusees, rectangular plates joined by six turned pillars, platform lever escapement with cut bimetallic balance, striking the hours on a gong
Dial: Gilt engraved with scrolls and flowers, engraved roman chapter ring above subsidiary dials for day, date and month and moon phase aperture, blued hands
Case: Rectangular, on concave molded base, two part handle concealed within the glazed top panel, beveled glass side panels, gilt back door with lock
Size: 13in (33 cm) high with handle folded
