Footnotes
The present lot is a first execution model with drilled and applied hour-markers, compared to later examples that used glued-on hour-markers. The dial is signed by Gübelin, making it a rarer version of a 'standard' Ref. 2526. It also features its original 18K gold 'D-type' brickwork Gay Frères bracelet, with the same double 'PP' motif on the outer folding clasp, and stamped '1 / 55', the same year the watch was sold.
