A very fine gilt hour striking and repeating carriage clock with seconds display
Signed B. Lawley, London, no. 1870
Date: Mid 19th century
Movement: Twin fusee with plates joined by five screwed pillars, maintaining power to going train, platform lever escapement with cut and compensated bimetallic balance, striking the hour on gong, strike / silent lever on back plate, trip hour repeat via cord through side of case
Dial: Silvered, finely engraved with foliate scrolls and crest with motto "Dieu avec nous" below roman chapter ring with seconds dial in the matted center, blued hands
Case: Molded base supporting Corinthian corner columns below dentil molded pediment with cone finials and handle chased with scrolls, top and sides with beveled glass panels, scroll pierced gilt back panel engraved with strapwork, shuttered winding apertures

Size: 7 ¾ in (19.7cm) high including handle
