An engraved gilt brass striking strut clock

Thomas Cole, London, no. 1320
Date: Mid 19th century
Movement: Time and striking trains with going barrels each under separate shaped bridges with integral winding tabs, platform lever escapement with cut bimetallic balance with numerous timing and poising screws, rack striking the hour on wire gong, key setting square for hands
Dial: Silvered, engraved with strapwork and scrolls, roman chapter ring above signature cartouche, blued fleur-de-lys hands
Case: Rectangular, with hinged suspension loop engraved with flowers and foliage over the sides with conforming decoration, the bezel engraved with simulated fluting over a band of foliate scrolls, raised on shaped feet bordering the rotating strut, hinged to allow the clock to be displayed at an angle
Signed: Dial and movement, numbered on case and movement
Size: 8 ½ in (21.5cm) high
