A good late 17th century style quarter chiming ebonized table clock
Chas Frodsham, 84 Strand, no. 1440
Date: Late 19th century
Movement: Substantial rectangular plates joined by four turned pillars, triple chain fusees, platform right angle lever escapement with cut bimetallic balance with numerous poising and timing screws, flat spring, striking the hour on a large gong and chiming the quarters on four smaller gongs
Dial: 8-inch square with winged cherub spandrels, silvered roman chapter ring with strike silent switch at XII o'clock, matted center, blued hands
Case: Repoussé gilt basket top with dolphin and shell handle, gilt bud finals, flowerhead trellis side frets, gilt door mounts, band of gilt scrolls above the molded base raised on scroll and paw feet

Size: 21 in (53.5cm) high including handle
