An unusual French gilt table clock in the form of a sedan chair set with signed Limoges enamel panels of Renaissance beauties
Date: Last quarter 19th century
Movement: Platform lever escapement, striking the hour and half hour and repeating the hour on a gong, no. 4390
Dial: Rectangular black enamel with white scroll border enclosing a circular red guilloché panel with Arabic chapters, gilt pierced scroll hands
Case: Cast to resemble a sedan chair surmounted by a fleur de lis and crown on scroll supports, the sides chased with leafy scrolls and medallions of putti at play, applied carrying handles to the sides, the side "windows" set with enamel portrait plaques, signed with monogram (?) FR, a further portrait medallion to the front panel and a hinged access door on in the rear panel
Size: 11 ¼ in (28.5cm) high
