A rare Swiss gilt grande sonnerie quarter repeating carriage clock with singing bird, date and alarm

Date: Third quarter 19th century
Movement: Rectangular plates, cylinder escapement with plain balance planted on the back plate, polished steel striking work with two nested bells also visible on back plate, repeating by pressing button in top edge of case, alarm train, separately wound bird mechanism within the base linked by wires to bird above the case, activated by lever under base
Dial: Rectangular white enamel within gilt mask, minute ring enclosing roman chapters above subsidiary date and alarm dials, blued hands, signed K. Hartel
Case: On shaped base with cast frieze supporting corner columns, glazed clock case with bird mounted above in plain glazed vitrine, brass back door with shuttered apertures for winding and setting
Size: 11 ½ in (29.3cm) high including handle
