A gilt mounted black marble portico with clockwork globe and year calendar

French, the globe by Prof. Dr. Otto Delisch, Leipzig
Date: Last quarter 19th century
Movement: Concealed in a gilt cylinder beneath the globe, with rectangular plates, Brocot escapement planted on the edge of the plates, Ellicott style spring suspended compensation pendulum, the great wheel on the going barrel driving a wheel on the axis of the globe, an additional wheel driven from the barrel turns a rod linked to a lever to advance the the calendar mechanism on the base of the portico
Dial: Gilt 24-hour ring pivoted below the globe with white enamel roman / arabic chapter plaques; the white enamel calendar dial on the base with month ring enclosing subsidiary day and date rings, blued hands
Case: The molded square marble base raised on gilt feet, four marble columns with gilt capitals below a molded platform supporting the globe and its movement
Size: 32 ¼ in (82cm) high
