with distinctive toggle action printing lever and cast-iron frame with crown finial, 76in (193cm) high

Originally designed by Richard Whittaker Cope, the Albion printing press was made under license by a number of manufacturers until the 1930's. They were used for commercial book-printing until the middle of the nineteenth century, and thereafter chiefly for proofing, jobbing work and by private presses. This example was used by the British Engineerium Press, Hove until the beginning of the 21st century.
