A MODEL OF A THAMES IRONWORKS PADDLE ENGINE OF THE 1890'S, built by G Woodcock, 1965,

the diagonal compound reversing cylinders are 1½in and 2in bores by 2½in stroke with main stop and simpling valves. Four diagonal pillars join the cylinders to the crank frame, incorporate square crosshead guide sections and gunmetal valve spindle guides. Stephenson link gear reverse is operated by handwheel and worm with a cut-off locking lever. All bearings are furnished with lubricators and the crankshaft is flanged at either side for the paddle shafts, 12in (30.5cm) high, 28in (71cm) wide
