A MODEL OF A CENTRE-PILLAR, ROTATIVE BEAM ENGINE, circa 1825,

the typically pre-1840's-type waisted single cylinder is 2in bore x 4in stroke, with 'outside' valve chest mounted on separate steam manifold, ornately decorated wrought iron parallel-motion straps with turned spacers. Watt-type governor with full linkage and butterfly valve, and link-driven feed pump. It has a connecting rod with shaped forked top end, and a turned and decorated centre column. The column is capped with pierced and curved gunmetal pedestals and the flywheel is mounted on a square crankshaft. Pierced wrought iron bedplate and oak plinth. All constructed from brass, wrought and cast iron. Finished in green and brightwork, 22in (56cm) high, 29in (74cm) long
