A Satsuma shallow bowl
By Kozan, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Decorated in enamels and gilt, the interior with numerous noblemen flanked by sword-wielding warriors, within a border of stylized flowers and foliage floating on Rinpa-style waves, the exterior with a broad band of clustered naturalistic flowers and stylized leaves above a narrow band of head gear lying among maple branches; signed Kozan sei (Manufactured by Kozan) within a gilt seal. 5.3cm x 15cm (2 1/8in x 5 7.8in).
