An 18-Bore Percussion Overcoat Pistol
By Ross, Edinburgh, Mid-19th Century

With twist octagonal barrel signed in gothic script along the top flat (worn) and retaining much original browning beneath, gold line, foliate engraved tang, signed border engraved flat lock and dolphin hammer each decorated with foliage, figured full stock (fore-end chipped on both sides at the muzzle) with chequered rounded butt, trigger-guard decorated en suite with the lock on the bow and with pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheon, and original horn-tipped ramrod with iron worm, Birmingham proof marks
