The first with plain barrel and tang (some pitting overall), border engraved rounded lock (cock replaced) with crown and 'Tower' across the tail, figured full stock (minor repair on one side at the muzzle) with rounded butt, regulation brass mounts, and steel ramrod, London proof marks; the second with plain barrel (lightly pitted, tang repaired), border engraved flat lock with 'GR' crowned and signed across the tail, figured full stock (split on one side), regulation brass mounts (ramrod-pipe incomplete), and later brass-tipped ramrod, Tower private proof marks (2)
