The First Signed Rolfe, Both Early 19th Century
The first with plain barrel and tang, border engraved flat lock with stamped signature, figured full stock with rounded butt, the latter (old bruising) stamped with indistinctly dated Ordnance Storekeeper's mark, regulation brass mounts, and stirrup ramrod (some light surface rust), King's proof marks; the second of similar form (barrel shortened, lock probably replaced and defective, some pitting and rust patination, butt with old repair, ramrod-pipe incomplete, ramrod missing), Birmingham proof marks (2)
