With broad fullered blade (some rust patination) with hatchet point, the forte stamped with a crowned '8' on one side and with maker's name on the back, regulation brass hilt of ladder pattern with a border of pierced triangles forming a star, knuckle-guard pierced for a sword-knot, pommel and back-piece in one, and ribbed leather-covered grip
